Everybody's Fool - Evanescence Writers: David Hodges, Amy Lee, Ben Moody
Perfect by nature Icons of self indulgence Just what we all need More lies about a world that
Never was and never will be Have you no shame? Don't you see me? You know you've got everybody fooled
Look here she comes now Bow down and stare in wonder Oh how we love you No flaws when you're pretending But now I know she
Never was and never will be You don't know how you've betrayed me And somehow you've got everybody fooled
Without the mask, where will you hide? Can't find yourself lost in your lie
I know the truth now I know who you are And I don't love you anymore
It never was and never will be You don't know how you've betrayed me And somehow you've got everybody fooled
It never was and never will be You're not real and you can't save me Somehow now you're everybody's fool
This song is really meaningful and the lyrics are amazing. The music video's very interesting as well. Evanescence's songs never fail to make me feel that there's actually someone out there who understands what's going on in my head.
"There's nothing better than a good lie."
Amy Lee says this with a huge smile on her face in the MV. Yet beneath her mask lies a broken soul, torn into pieces.
Such is the absurdity of life. Everyone tries so hard to put on a show, to hide one's vulnerability that everything out there is just not real. What a pity.
Oh yes, it's a great epic show out there.
"That whole life is a lie. Every smile, that's a lie."
I carry around this heavy feeling in my heart all the time, and it's slowly starting to kill me. But no one knows, no one cares and no one believes it.
-
So you really have to take everything away from me. Just when I was finally starting to put everything aside and start anew.
What's worse is that after taking everything away you have to flaunt them in my face. What's wrong with you? Does it make you feel good to see me fall, time and time again? Can't you understand that you already have everything I don't have?
It's okay. You're the victim and I'm the unforgiving one anyway. Let everyone think that way. 'Tis fine with me.
Seriously, you disgust me.
The world's a ridiculous place.
